我們先來看這兩句有什麼不同～

Besides Julie, Brian and Kevin will sign up for a class at the gym.

除了 Julie，Brian 和 Kevein 也報名了健身房的課。

→ 表示三個人都有報名

Brian and Kevin will sign up for a class at the gym except Julie.

Brian 和 Kevin 報名了健身房的課，除了 Julie 以外。

→ 表示只有 Brian 和 Kevin 有報名

Besides 為介係詞，

意思是「除了…，… 還/也…」

例句：

Besides me, my best friend went to the concert last week.

除了我，我最好的朋友上禮拜也去聽演唱會。

 

She is an actress besides working as a YouTuber.

除了YouTuber工作外，她也是一位演員。

 

Besides 也可以單獨使用，

為副詞，表示「此外」

例句：

Let’s have lunch together! Besides, I have something important to tell you.

我們一起吃午餐吧！此外，我有重要的是要告訴你。

若正式的寫作要使用「此外」時，

可以使用 moreover、in addition、furthermore。

補充跟 besides 長得很像的字：beside

Beside 意思為「在…的旁邊」，

等同於 next to

A lovely kid sits beside me.

一位可愛的小孩坐在我旁邊。

Except 為介係詞，意思是「除了…」

例句：

We go to work every day except weekends.

我們每天都工作，除了假日以外。

 

I like all fruit except pineapples.

我喜歡所有水果，除了鳳梨以外。

補充跟 except 長得很像的字：accept

Accept 意思為「接受」

I don’t accept your apology.

我不接受你的道歉。
